The PERF INIT page allows the entry of airplane and route data to initialise performance calculations. This data is required for VNAV operation.

GR WT - Airplane gross weight can be entered by the flight crew or calculated by the FMC after entry of zero fuel weight. Valid entry is thousands of kilograms with a decimal (hundreds) optional. Entering the zero fuel weight first displays calculated gross weight.
FUEL - Fuel on board displays when the fuel totaliser calculations are valid. The source for the display is included in the line:
  • SENSED - fuel quantity is from the totaliser
  • CALC (calculated) - fuel quantity is from FMC calculations. Manual entry is possible
  • MANUAL - fuel quantity has been manually entered. Manual entries blank the totaliser display on PROGRESS page 2

  • Valid entry is thousands of kilograms with a decimal (hundreds) optional. Only manual entries can be deleted. Deleting the manual entry resets the value to the totaliser and the title returns to CALC.
ZFW - Normally, ZFW is entered from the airplane dispatch papers and the FMC calculates the airplane gross weight. Valid entry is thousands of kilograms with a decimal (hundreds) optional. Calculated zero fuel weight displays when airplane gross weight is entered first and fuel on board is valid.
RESERVES - Valid entry is thousands of kilograms with a decimal (hundreds) optional.
COST INDEX - Cost index is used to calculate ECON climb, cruise, and descent speeds. Larger values increase the ECON cruise speed. Entering zero results in maximum range airspeed and minimum trip fuel. Cost index can be entered by the flight crew or from a company route. Valid entries are 0 to 999.
INDEX - Displays the INIT/REF INDEX page.
CRZ ALT - Cruise altitude is entered by the flight crew in standard altitude format. Entered value is displayed on the CLB and CRZ pages.
CRZ WIND - Cruise wind is entered as bearing/speed. The entered value is propagated to the RTE DATA page. Optional entry.
ISA DEV - Enter the forecast enroute ISA deviation in degrees Celsius. The top of climb temperature is calculated from the ISA deviation input and displayed in 4R. Displays the ISA deviation calculated by the FMC if the T/C OAT is entered first. Optional entry.
T/C OAT - Enter the forecast outside air temperature for the cruise altitude in degrees Celsius. The ISA deviation is calculated from the T/C OAT input and displayed in 3R. Displays the top of climb OAT calculated by the FMC if the ISA deviation is entered first. Optional entry.
TRANS ALT - Defaults to 18000 when power is applied and automatically changes if a departure procedure containing a different value is entered. Manual entry by the flight crew is allowed. Determines where the altitudes displayed on the CDU change from feet to FL. Does not affect VNAV control.
TAKEOFF - Displays the TAKEOFF REF page
