How to enable Cookies
The following instructions describe how to enable Cookies for: AOL, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Macintosh, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, Safari.
To enable cookies, follow the instructions below for the browser version you are using.
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Internet [Web] Options
- Select Use your Internet Explorer Settings to set advanced
browser options.
- Select the Privacy
tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
AOL 8.0
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
AOL 7.0 with IE 6.x
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
AOL 7.0 with IE 5.5
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Security tab
- Select the Custom Level tab
- Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click Enable
- Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click Enable
- Select OK
AOL 6.0
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Security tab
- Select the Custom Level tab
- Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click Enable
- Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click Enable
- Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings
AOL 5.0
- Go to My AOL
- Pick WWW
- Click the Security tab
- Go to Custom Level
- Scroll down to find Cookie
- Click Enable
- Click OK
AOL 4.0
- Click on Preferences
- Select on the WWW button
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Select the Accept all cookies checkbox
- On the Tools menu, select Options
- Select the Privacy icon in the left panel.
- Select the Allow sites to set cookies checkbox
- Click OK to save changes.
- On the Tools menu, select Internet Options
- Select the Privacy tab.
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit
Internet Explorer 5.x
- On the Tools menu, select Internet Options
- Select the Security tab
- Select the Custom Level button
- Scroll down to the Cookies section.
- Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click Enable
- Click OK to exit
Internet Explorer 4.x
- On the View menu, select Internet Options
- Click on the Security tab.
- Scroll down to find Cookies within the Security section.
- Click Always Accept Cookies
- Click OK to exit
Mac IE 5.x
- On the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Under the Receiving Files option, select Cookies
- Under "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
- Click OK to finish
Mac IE 4.x
- Go to My AOL on the menu bar
- Pick WWW
- Go to the Advanced Settings option on the Category menu
- Click Cookies
- Under When receiving cookies, Click Never Ask
- Click OK
- On the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security in the scrolling window to expand.
- Under Privacy & Security, select Cookies.
- Select Enable all cookies.
- Click OK.
- On the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Click the Privacy and Security category to expand the list to show the subcategories.
- Click Cookies
- Select Enable all cookies.
- Click OK. Note: You will need to close and reopen your browser for this to take effect.
Netscape 6.x
- On the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Click the Privacy and Security category to expand the list to show the subcategories.
- Click Cookies
- Select Enable all cookies.
- Click OK. Note: You will need to close and reopen your browser for this to take effect.
Netscape 4.7x
- On the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Select the Advanced category.
- Click the radio button Accept all cookies.
- Click OK.
Netscape 4.x
- On the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Select the Advanced category.
- Click the check box next to Accept All Cookies
- Click OK
- On the Tools menu, select Preferences. (Note: on old versions, PREFERENCES appears under VIEW)
- Click the Privacy category.
- Check Enable Cookies.
- From the Normal Cookies drop-down menu, select Automatically accept all cookies.
- Click OK.
- From the Safari Menu, choose Preferences.
- Click the Security icon.
- In the Accept Cookies: selection box, chose Always or Only from sites you navigate to.
