Emergency Locator Transmitter

Elt

As Installed and 757-300

An Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) is mounted to the top centre of the fuselage in the passenger cabin area. The ELT automatically transmits distress signals on 121.5 MHz, 243 MHz and 406 Mhz if high deceleration is sensed or the ELT switch is positioned to ON.

The EICAS advisory message ELT ON is displayed if the transmitter is activated. If the ELT operates, it can be deactivated by placing the ELT switch to RESET.
